Position Description
The Finance Operations Intern is responsible for assisting the Director of Finance & Finance Operations Coordinator in the day-to-day functions of the Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable & Book Monitoring process associated with the Florida Blue Florida Classic, the FC Series, Pop-Warner Football & Cheer Championships, member-based events, Pop-Tarts Bowl, Cheez-It Citrus Bowl and all other Florida Citrus Sports events. The Finance Operations Intern will directly report to the Director of Finance.

General Responsibilities
The Finance Operations Intern is committed to learning our business operations and applying their skills to make this upcoming event season efficient and successful. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Maintain and update vendor files
  • Prepare monthly general reconciliation reports for select balance sheet accounts
  • Assist in the Accounts Payable process, coding invoices, and routing them to the appropriate internal departments
  • Maintain and update certificate of insurance files
  • Monitor bank statements and make necessary adjustments
  • Assist in monitoring actual expenditures against the budget
  • Assist in operations and lead up to the 50/50 raffle on game day
  • Prepare, input, and post journal entries as needed
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications
The ideal candidate should be a detail-oriented self-starter who thrives in a multi-task, deadline-driven environment.

Required:

  • Pursuing a Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Sports Business Management
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to occasionally lift boxes and other objects up to 25 pounds
  • Self-motivated, team player with a great attitude and willingness to work
  • Clean driving record and ability to travel throughout the local Central Florida area

Preferred:

  • At least one (1) year of Accounting/Bookkeeping work experience
  • Prior work or internship experience in the sports business industry
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Great Plains accounting system
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce CRM software
  • Working knowledge of the AvidStrongroom accounts payable management system

Commitment
This position requires at least twenty (20) hours per week and the willingness and ability to work occasional overtime, nights, weekends, and/or holidays according to the Florida Citrus Sports events schedule. The position will be paid hourly at a rate of $15 and is eligible for overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 40 hours/week based on a Sunday–Saturday work week.

The selected candidate will be required to successfully complete a background check and motor vehicle driving check.
