For generations, Lake Lorna Doone Park has been a jewel at the center of the West Lakes communities — a place for families and residents to congregate, celebrate and play for more than 100 years.
In 2019, Florida Citrus Sports and the City of Orlando broke ground on a $9 million upgrade to this historic facility, a total reconstruction that will provide the assets necessary to inspire a healthy and active outdoor lifestyle for families all across Orlando, including the 22,000 residents who call the West Lakes home.
This 12-acre facility features a nature walk and fitness stations to encourage healthy activity, a barrier-free playground where kids of all ages and abilities can play and new basketball courts in partnership with the Orlando Magic. The park also features the City of Orlando’s first public splash pad, a one-of-a-kind mini-golf replica of the back nine at Bay Hill, practice fields for athletic competition, a solar pavilion, an arts garden, a fountain and more.
Lake Lorna Doone Park is expected to reopen later this year.
