Whitley Writes: Plenty To Cheer About During Orlando Bowl Week

A strange thing happened after last year’s Rose Bowl game. Thousands of fans from the losing side didn’t want to leave. That’s not routine at 123 of the 124 NCAA Football Subdivision schools. It’s a tradition at Wisconsin, and Orlando is about to be reminded why. The Badgers are coming to town for the Capital One Bowl. Just as importantly, their band will be with them. Granted, it’s probably more important that the football team show up Jan. 1. But […]

Bowden saw a big-play offense and a hard-hitting, opportunistic defense in the Seminoles’ 42-13 win over Wisconsin at the Champs Sports Bowl on Saturday. “It looked like the old Florida State out there,” Bowden said. “Not that we’re there, but we looked like we used to.” Florida State (9-4) finished with more than eight wins for the first time since 2004. Nine […]

Stocco, Wisconsin Persevere For Second Consecutive Capital One Bowl “W” (AP)

(AP) Darren McFadden broke free on his first carry and raced into the Wisconsin secondary. Defensive back Jack Ikegwuonu did what few players have — he ran down the Arkansas star at the 9. With its running game stifled and its quarterback under constant pressure, the sixth-ranked Badgers did just enough to hold off No. 12 Arkansas 17-14 Monday. John Stocco threw two first-half touchdown passes, and Wisconsin (12-1) survived despite being held to minus-5 yards rushing. The biggest play […]
