Coaches Hype Up Crowd At Contract Signing
Orlando was treated to a preview of the Capital One Bowl on Thursday, as coaches and administrators from Arkansas and Wisconsin visited the Ballroom at Church Street to sign the bowl contracts and make the January 1, No. 12 vs. No. 7 matchup official.
First, athletics directors and legendary former head coaches Frank Broyles (Arkansas) and Barry Alvarez (Wisconsin) took time to praise the Capital One Bowl and its destination city, noting the passion and excitement that their respective fan bases had for the upcoming New Year’s Classic. Both men boasted about their fans and how many of them would be traveling to Central Florida in the coming weeks.
Later on during the luncheon, the head coaches had their turn to address the crowd. During sit-down conversations with Sun Sports’ Paul Kennedy, the event’s master of ceremonies, both Houston Nutt of the Razorbacks and Bret Bielema of the Badgers praised their own team, praised their upcoming opponent, and hyped up the January 1 game in their own unique way.
While Bielema cautioned Arkansas fans about his experience with hogs after growing up on a pig farm, Nutt chose to stir the crowd by teaching Orlando a traditional Razorback cheer. Even Wisconsin fans rose to join him in “Woo Pig Sooie” and get everyone excited about the 61st Annual Capital One Bowl.
The two teams will square off on Monday, Jan. 1 with a 1:00 p.m. kickoff. Tickets to the game are still available at all Ticketmaster outlets and at www.ticketmaster.com.
Special thanks are due to both schools for participating in today’s Contract Signing Luncheon, as well as Florida Hospital, the gracious sponsor of the event.
