2017-18 LEADERSHIP UPDATE: SCHAEFER BEGINS TERM AS PRESIDENT, ODENBACH MOVES TO CHAIRMAN

As Florida Citrus Sports kicks off its 2017-18 season today, Hannover Re’s Pete Schaefer was officially recognized as the organization’s 41st president, while outgoing President Andy Odenbach of Tavistock began his one-year term as chairman.

Schaefer will lead the day-to-day activities of the organization’s board of directors. He serves as President and CEO of Hannover Re. Schaefer joined Hannover Re Group on January 1, 1999 as Chief Actuary and assumed his current responsibilities two years later. He is an active participant on numerous life insurance industry committees and currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the American Council of Life Insurers. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA). He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business in 1982 with a B.S. in Economics.

Outgoing 2015-16 President Odenbach will move to Chairman, where he will continue his role on the board’s executive committee and also oversee Florida Citrus Sports’ team selection committee. As Vice President of Sports Ventures at Tavistock Group and Lake Nona Golf & Country Club, LLC., Odenbach drives all elements of Tavistock Group’s commitment to sports initiatives, from sales and marketing to administration and operations. Odenbach is responsible for all sports related business development and plated a critical role in landing the USTA’s “Home of American Tennis” and led Tavistock’s efforts to build the Orlando city Soccer Club’s Training Center.

Harold Mills of ZeroChaos has completed his term as chairman but will remain a part of FCSports’ executive committee for two more years. Tom Sittema of CNL Financial Group, Inc. has been named President-Elect and will begin his term in April of 2018. Sittema helped found LIFT Orlando and is the current board chair. I4 Business named him the 2015 Entrepreneur of the Year for his work with the organization.

Additionally, Maribeth Bisienere of Walt Disney World Parks & Resorts has moved from the elected board to join the board’s executive committee as Vice President and Past Chairman Tony Massey has been named Legal Chair.

Several new names were added to the organization’s elected board of directors:

Arnold Evans, SunTrust
Dr. Kasey Kesselring, Montverde Academy
Michael Weinberg, HHF, LP

In addition to Bisiniere, two others completed their term of board service: Susan Fortini of Fast Signs and Roy Harvey of EA Sports. Both had served on the board since 2011.
