Florida Citrus Sports Names Steve Hogan Executive Director

FCSports announced today the appointment of Steve Hogan as the new Executive Director of the not-for-profit organization that produces more than 70 annual events including three premier college football games, the Florida Classic, the Capital One Bowl and the Champs Sports Bowl.

Hogan has been a member of the staff at FCSports since 1995, when he joined the organization as an events manager. He quickly advanced and took on business development responsibilities within the company. During his first five years with the company, he helped secure NFL preseason games, launched the Gridiron Classic College All-Star Game and increased the stature of what today is known as the Orlando Citrus Parade.

In 2002, Hogan was named Director of FCSports Properties. In that capacity, he played an integral role in securing a state-of-the-art video scoreboard for the Florida Citrus Bowl and a partnership with Champs Sports for the title for one of Orlando’s two bowl games.

Hogan will succeed the late Tom Mickle, who elevated him to the position of Assistant Executive Director in 2005. As Assistant Executive Director, Hogan secured an extension of the organization’s agreement with the Florida Classic game, participated in negotiations to upgrade conference tie-ins for the Champs Sports Bowl, and is presently serving as the staff liaison for the Stadium Task Force. The Task Force, comprised of community leaders, is examining options for a renovation of the 70-year-old Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium.

“Steve’s experience, knowledge of our business and his commitment to FCSports make him the right person to lead us through our next phase of growth”, said Dick Rivera, Chairman of the FCSports Search Committee. “Our committee evaluated candidates with diverse backgrounds and experience across the breadth of intercollegiate and professional sports. In the end, we found that the best person for the position was already with us.”

“We are fortunate to have a leader of Steve’s caliber on board”, said George Nahas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of FCSports. “He has strong relationships within the Central Florida community, with our conference partners and our sponsors respect and trust him.”

Hogan is no stranger to the Central Florida community. He spent his formative years growing up in Sebring, Fla. before attending the University of Central Florida, where he was a member of the Golden Knight football team. Hogan graduated from UCF in 1992 with a B.A. in advertising and public relations.
