Florida Citrus Sports to host Collegiate Innovation Challenge
Florida Citrus Sports is hosting a 12-hour student hackathon to find the next big thing in sports and entertainment.
Between Orlando’s growing reputation as a technology and innovation hub and the number of top college programs in the region, we know we can find that big idea right in our own backyard.
If you have a great idea, can put together a great team and are willing to put in the work to bring that idea to life, we have the platform that will showcase your vision before the world!
The Challenge
Florida Citrus Sports (FCS) endeavors to unearth disruptive, breakthrough ideas that will enhance the world of sports and entertainment. Teams can submit innovation advancements in one (1) of the following areas:
- Technology – leverages any form or tool of modern technology
- Multimedia – advances value in form of media, multimedia or other entertainment value add
- Fan Experience – enhances overall fan experience in a meaningful, cost-effective manner
Your project could reimagine the way stadium sports and entertainment events are experienced and be on display before the entire world.
What is a Hackathon?
A hackathon is a design sprint where teams build new products or solutions for existing problems in a short span of time – in this case, 12 hours. The event is open to all students but encouraged for those focused in design, development, engineering, marketing, coding, media or related programs.
Participants pitch final concepts to a panel of community and industry leadership. In addition to the overall cash prize for the winning concept, teams will compete for other tech prizes and/or the opportunity to advance their concept after the event through partnership and mentorship with Florida Citrus Sports.
The Objectives
The innovation competition is intended to serve as a catalyst for new ideas and value for Camping World Stadium and foster a spirit of innovation specific to sports and entertainment within the Central Florida community.
