Matchups Announced for Pop-Tarts Bowl and Cheez-It Citrus Bowl
BYU to meet Georgia Tech in 2025 Pop-Tarts Bowl; Texas–Michigan set for 80th Cheez-It Citrus Bowl
ORLANDO, Florida (Sunday, Dec. 7, 2025) — Florida Citrus Sports announced Sunday that No. 12 BYU will face No. 22 Georgia Tech in this year’s Pop-Tarts Bowl and No. 13 Texas will meet No. 18 Michigan in the 80th Cheez-It Citrus Bowl, highlighting a marquee 2025 Bowl Week at Camping World Stadium.
The Pop-Tarts Bowl will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Dec. 27, on ABC. The game will mark the fifth all-time meeting between BYU and Georgia Tech, and the first since 2013.
The Big 12 runner-up Cougars will be making their first appearance in the Pop-Tarts Bowl and their third bowl trip to Orlando overall, having previously played in the Citrus Bowl in 1976 and 1985.
Georgia Tech returns to the bowl for the third time. The Yellow Jackets picked up wins in both their previous appearances, including the 2004 edition vs. Syracuse and a 1997 contest vs. West Virginia before the game relocated from South Florida.
The Yellow Jackets also have a notable history in the city, having earned a share of the national championship with their win in the 1991 Citrus Bowl.
This year’s Pop-Tarts Bowl will add to the fun with a record six mascots — Team Sprinkles and Team Swirls — starring in a first-of-its-kind sideline showdown that culminates with an entire team of Edible Mascots being selected for consumption by the bowl champions.
Four days later, at 3 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Dec. 31, Texas and Michigan will square off in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl live on ABC. The matchup marks just the third meeting between the storied programs. Texas holds a 2–0 edge in the series, earning a 2024 regular-season win in Ann Arbor and famously defeating Michigan 38–37 in the 2005 Rose Bowl.
The Longhorns will be making their first postseason appearance in Orlando, while the Wolverines return for a record-setting seventh Citrus Bowl. Michigan last played in the event in 2020 and can tie the all-time Citrus Bowl wins mark with another victory, having previously earned bowl triumphs over Florida (twice), Auburn and Arkansas.
Fans in attendance will also enjoy the return of beloved mascot Prince Cheddward and a free postgame concert from multi-platinum country artist Jordan Davis, presented by Geico.
