Senior Vice President, Marketing & Communications

Position Description
The SVP of marketing & communications is responsible for developing and implementing the strategic integrated marketing & communications plan that builds awareness and promotes Florida Citrus Sports’ services, events, revenue generation initiatives and relationship programs with existing customers, including corporate partners. The SVP is responsible for the daily functions of the Integrated Marketing & Communications department, developing and implementing plans to fulfill campaign strategies across business units by leveraging earned, owned and paid assets. The selected candidate will contribute to the organization’s long-term goals and generate innovative ideas to increase the profile of the organization and its partners. This position will manage several aspects of concurrent projects, including timelines and budgets, and will make independent choices leveraging internal and external resources to meet goals. The position will report to the Chief Marketing Officer.

General Responsibilities
The SVP will help shape public opinion, perception, understanding, awareness and action regarding FCS major public events, campaigns and initiatives through a comprehensive marketing, advertising, and public relations plan. The role will develop and manage key aspects of that plan, supporting objectives in membership sales, customer service, business development, fundraising and general business operations. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Develop campaigns across business objectives, including timelines, budgets and data-driven analysis
  • Generate projects focused on lead generation, customer retention and revenue growth in key business units
  • Establish additional non-revenue goals in media/public relations, content production, brand management, messaging, etc.
  • Set multiplatform content strategy, including production logistics and post-event performance reporting
  • Build credibility of the organization through cross-channel communications that improve the organization’s image, help achieve the mission and goals and result in outstanding customer service
  • Work with internal FCS departments and business units to set and evaluate each initiative’s purpose/goals and facilitate effective marketing support, including creative needs
  • Evaluate all external communication to portray a positive brand image and increase positive customer experience
  • Initiates, develops and maintains positive professional relationships with community business leaders, individuals, network partners, sponsors and others to promote the customer service of current sponsors
  • Identify, secure, manage and review external resources to support marketing strategies and internal needs
  • All other duties as assigned

The SVP’s daily role will focus on advancing the organization, business units, and mission by effectively executing a strategic plan built in collaboration with stakeholders and leadership.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate should be a detail-oriented self-starter with excellent written and oral communication skills who enjoys working in a multi-task, deadline-driven environment. Creativity, organization, initiative, and the ability to express thoughts clearly are essential. The role will balance the development of “big picture” ideas and the execution of small details and logistics of individual projects.

Required:

  • At least 10 years of experience in a related position or field navigating a heavy workload and meeting deadlines with a high degree of accuracy
  • At least five years of experience in a leadership role within a marketing or communications team
  • At least five years of experience in budget management and freelance/contract vendor coordination
  • At least five years of experience with responsibilities in communications, public relations, sports information or a similar field
  • At least three years of experience with customer relationship management (CRM) platforms (Salesforce preferred)
  • At least three years of experience with email marketing platforms (Salesforce Account Engagement/Pardot preferred)
  • At least three years of experience with web content management systems (WordPress preferred)
  • At least one year of experience in project management or comparable examples of candidate-led initiatives or projects
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office
  • Strong writing/proofreading skills and familiarity with Associated Press style
  • Clean driving record and ability to travel throughout the local Central Florida area
  • Ability to occasionally lift boxes, tables, chairs, and other objects up to 50 pounds

Preferred:

    • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business communications, sports management or related field
    • Prior experience with community affairs/government affairs strategies and programs
    • Proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese
    • Prior experience with Adobe CS (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere)

Compensation will be commensurate with experience.

Commitment
This position requires at least forty hours per week and occasional nights, weekends and holidays according to the FCS event schedule. The successful candidate must complete a background check and motor vehicle driving check.
