-
Start at Dawg Walk. Two hours before kickoff, thousands of fans line the path outside Sanford Stadium to cheer on the players and band as they enter — a UGA tradition that gives chills every time.
-
“Between the Hedges.” There’s nothing like the moment the team runs out in their red jerseys and the crowd roars “Go Dawgs!” Sanford’s energy is elite, and the hedges make it one of the most beautiful stadiums in the country.
-
Ring the Chapel Bell. After a win, head to North Campus and ring the historic Chapel Bell — it’s one of Athens’ oldest and loudest traditions.
-
Tailgate early. North Campus, Myers Quad, and the area near The Arch fill up early with tents, BBQ, and UGA flags. Athens is a tailgater’s paradise.
-
Watch the Redcoat Marching Band. Their pregame performance and postgame “Battle Hymn” are SEC staples that hit hard in person.
-
Don’t rush out. Downtown Athens turns into a massive celebration after games — live bands, bar patios, and Dawg fans singing until 2 a.m.

LOCAL EATS
The Last Resort Grill
Athens’ most famous restaurant — Southern comfort food with a modern twist. Their shrimp & grits and cheesecake are legendary, so make reservations early.
Mama’s Boy
A breakfast institution. Huge biscuits, fried green tomatoes, and friendly chaos on a Saturday morning — it’s worth the wait, trust.
Cali N Tito’s
Lively, outdoor Cuban-Latin spot with cheap margaritas and unbeatable vibes. It’s loud, packed, and 100% Athens.
The Blind Pig Tavern
Classic sports bar with TVs, wings, and local beer. It’s where students and alumni mingle before kickoff.
Trappeze Pub
Craft beer heaven — 30+ taps, next-level bar food, and a relaxed vibe. Perfect for postgame debriefs or catching other SEC matchups.
Creature Comforts Brewing Co.
One of Georgia’s most popular craft breweries and a downtown landmark. The tasting room fills with Dawg fans every Friday and Saturday — try the “Tropicália” IPA, it’s basically an Athens rite of passage.
Five Bar Athens
Upscale but fun, with — you guessed it — five entrées on the menu and a crowd full of Gators and Dawgs mixing on rivalry weekend. Great cocktails and a lively scene.
