Springtime is one of the best seasons in Orlando; the weather alone is ideal! It’s warm enough to go to the beach, pool, or theme parks, but not so hot that people find it overwhelming. We’ve got a couple of months left of this beautiful weather, so those of us here at Florida Citrus Sports have some suggestions for you of things to do during spring in Orlando!
Live Music Events and Venues
Live music is always a popular option here in Orlando but even more so when you can experience it in an outdoor venue. Here are a few outdoor live music events and venues you should check out this spring.
Paul McCartney at Camping World Stadium
Sir Paul McCartney himself will be gracing the stage at Camping World Stadium on May 28, 2022 and we couldn’t be more excited. He hasn’t performed here at Camping World since 1993 so it is truly an honor to have him back! Get your tickets now and come enjoy this open-air concert with your friends and family members. If you’re looking for premium seating for this event, you should check out the newly renovated spaces at the stadium that offer both enclosed and open-air amenities as well as luxury suites.
The Stadium Tour
This June, Camping World Stadium is going to host some of the most iconic rock legends all in one concert! The Stadium Tour will feature Def Leppard, Mötley Crüe, Poison, and Joan Jett & The Black Hearts all in one night, June 19, 2022. With so many big names all in one place, this is a concert you surely don’t want to miss. Whether you’re looking for that VIP experience or open-air seats, don’t wait to get your tickets.
Boxi Park
Boxi Park is in an up-and-coming area of Orlando known as Lake Nona. The park itself is free to get in and has lots of food truck-style food and drink vendors. There is a playground for the kids, several beach volleyball courts, and an outdoor stage for live music. They have amazing local bands playing there almost every weekend night, so there is always something fun to choose from. This is a great spot for a fun date night or a night out with the family. Check out the Boxi Park Events Calendar for all their upcoming acts.
Sanford Art & Jazz Night
If you’re looking for something a little more laidback, then you should head up to Sanford on the third Thursday of the month and check out Sanford Art & Jazz Night. This monthly event features art displays and live jazz music all along the beautiful brick-lined streets of historic Sanford, Florida. There is no fee, so just come as you are and enjoy the night!
Sporting Events
Whether you’re into playing or watching sports, this is a great time to check out some exciting events happening in and around Orlando.
“Driving Impact” Celebrity Golf Classic
Florida Citrus Sports is hosting the inaugural “Driving Impact” Celebrity Golf Classic on May 15-16, 2022. This golf tournament will take place at Lake Nona Golf and Country Club and supports the efforts of Lift Orlando, an organization that works to accelerate community transformation through neighborhood revitalization. Register your team now for this community-benefiting event!
Monster Jam World Finals
Camping World Stadium will be taken over on May 21st and 22nd by the Monster Jam World Finals! This championship event is the biggest of the season so you don’t want to miss out. Come see these amazing drivers compete in racing, freestyle, high jump, and skills competitions.
Bring the kids and come to the Pit Party where they can see the massive trucks up close and personal and meet some of the drivers in person. Get your open-air tickets to get up close to the action or contact us about premium seating for a luxury experience at this event.
Orlando Pride and Orlando City Soccer
Orlando has two outstanding local soccer teams that never fail to put on a good show. Whether you want to check out a game by Orlando Pride or Orlando City, you will not be disappointed! The atmosphere at Exploria Stadium is electric as these teams compete against teams from other cities and states. They have games throughout the spring and going into the summer months as well. Once we get into the summer months, Orlando City will even be playing against Arsenal FC in the Florida Cup!
Experience Florida’s Nature
With springtime offering such good weather here in Central Florida, it’s time to get out and about and experience it for yourself before the summer heat and rains are upon us.
If you’re looking to get out of Orlando a bit then Bok Tower Gardens is an easy drive that’s only about 60 miles southwest of Orlando in Lake Wales, FL. These stunningly landscaped gardens are absolutely beautiful and peaceful to walk through on the various nature trails. You can also sit and enjoy a picnic or learn a bit about the history of the property. If you’ve brought the kids, there is a kids’ garden where they can play and learn. There’s also an edible garden and an outdoor kitchen. And if you’d like to bring your dog, all of the outdoor areas of Bok Tower Gardens are open to your furry friend.
The main attraction on the property is the well-known “Singing Tower”, a 205 ft tall carillon that houses 60 bells ranging in size from 16lbs to 12 tons. These bells are played on the hour and half-hour every day and there are concerts that are played at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
Also on the property is a Mediterranean-style mansion called “El Retiro”, or The Retreat”, that will show you what life was like there in the 1930s. This mansion is almost 13,000 square feet, has 20 rooms, and is surrounded by fountains, country gardens, and a pond where you can watch the sunset.
Bok Tower Gardens truly is an escape from the typical hustle and bustle of Orlando!
Rock Springs Run State Reserve
Florida is known for having springs all over the state, but one of the most popular and beautiful ones to visit is right here in the Orlando area. At Rock Springs, you can do everything from camping, hiking, bicycling, and geo-caching, to horseback riding along the miles and miles of trails. And similar to Bok Tower, the trails here are also dog-friendly as long as your dog is well behaved and on a 6ft, handheld leash.
If getting in the water is more your thing, then this is the place for you. One popular attraction you’ll find here is to rent clear kayaks to paddle through these crystal clear waters.
Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens
Last but not least on our list is the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens in Sanford, FL is a nonprofit organization that houses over 100 species of animals from around the world and has the largest collection of reptiles in the southeast.
In addition to viewing the animals, they also offer live animal encounters, and even the chance to feed some of the animals like giraffes and barnyard animals like goats, llamas, alpacas, and more. When it’s time to cool off after hanging out with all the animals, this zoo offers a splash playground for the kids that’s sure to make their day.
