CompassLearning Donates Resources To Warren Sapp Computer Lab
CompassLearning, Inc has donated web-based learning services worth nearly $30,000 worth to the Warren Sapp Computer Lab at the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium. These services will benefit the numerous educational programs for children and young adults supported annually by the FCSports Foundation.
The Odyssey software program, which provides instruction for the full spectrum of elementary school subjects, was donated by CompassLearning through the efforts of Nancy Smith, a former special education teacher in the Central Florida area who now serves as an educational consultant and national curriculum and instruction specialist for Texas-based CompassLearning.
“We are thrilled to partner with the FCSports Foundation to provide fun, engaging, educational tools that will help students achieve important learning milestones,” Smith said.
The Warren Sapp Computer Lab serves as a venue for programs supported by the FCSports Foundation. It serves not only the FCSports Summer Camp, but also the You Can Soar! after-school SAT/ACT preparation course. Recently, when the Lighthouse Central Florida (LCF) was displaced from its regular facility, the lab was also made available to the sight-impaired clients of LCF.
“The generous donation of the CompassLearning programs has greatly increased the educational capacity of the Sapp Lab,” said FCSports Foundation executive director Shannon Clark. “We will continue to serve our area’s children in the best way possible thanks to this upgrade.”
CompassLearning Odyssey’s standards-based educational solutions provide interactive, self-paced, challenging, engaging activities. Project-based activities promote exploration, individual and cooperative learning, problem solving, reflection, and real-world connections. Current curriculum includes K through secondary level reading and language arts, math, social studies, and science including parallel products in elementary math and science that provide English Language Learners with academically equivalent programs in their native language.
