2019 Member Award Winners Announced

Florida Citrus Sports CEO Steve Hogan has announced that Reg Shrigley has earned the organization’s highest service honor, the Howard Palmer Award. The award will be presented to Shrigley, a longtime member and team host, during the organization’s Member Celebration presented by AdventHealth on April 18 at Full Sail Live.

“Reg has been an invaluable member of Florida Citrus Sports for over three decades and this honor is long overdue,” Florida Citrus Sports CEO Steve Hogan said. “He has put our organization and the bowl teams’ needs ahead of his own year after year as a dedicated team host to make sure their experience in Orlando was top-notch.”

The Howard Palmer Award recognizes a “lifetime” of service to Florida Citrus Sports by a member who continually strives to make significant contributions to the organization and its efforts without regard for personal recognition. Shrigley is now the 30th recipient of the award, joining a prestigious list that includes Harvey Massey, Paul Kennedy, Chuck Rohe, Lee Corso and 2017-18 recipient Ted Ruta.

In addition to the Howard Palmer Award, Florida Citrus Sports has selected nine members as 2018-19 Members of the Year. John Atwood, Steve Castino, Diana Goetz, Justin Kinsey, Paul Leake, Larry Poleyeff, David Pryor, Karl Schmidt and Phil Zeman will also be recognized at Member Celebration for their outstanding effort and significant contributions to the organization.

Atwood (Momentum Marketing Solutions) has been a proud member for 17 years and has dedicated his time by serving on the Associate Board along with several committees including the Membership Sales, Customer Relations, Disability and Team Selection Committees. He’s also a regular fixture at nearly every Florida Citrus Sports event throughout the year.

Castino (Vestal & Wiler) has been involved with Florida Citrus Sports since 2001 and has served in various roles in the organization, including positions on the Membership and Finance Committees and the Elected Board. On top of his committee and board involvement, Castino also went above and beyond this year as the winner of the Member Sales Drive.

Another longtime member, Goetz (TBC Corporation) has been an active Associate Board member who has consistently dedicated her time to Florida Citrus Sports throughout her 24 years of membership. She is also the longtime chair of the Audit Committee, in which Goetz manages the fiduciary oversight responsibilities over the financial reporting of the organization.

A member since 2016, Kinsey (Lanier Parking) has donated a great deal of his time to Florida Citrus Sports, especially during the holidays. Kinsey is a fixture at events throughout bowl week and Florida Blue Florida Classic week and is also a member of the Team Selection and Volunteer Committees.

Leake is earning recognition for the second year in a row. Since joining the organization in 2015, Leake has been an indispensable volunteer with the organization and has contributed countless hours of his time to help make Florida Citrus Sports events successful. Leake also served on the Team Selection and Hospitality Committees.

Poleyeff (Ohio National Financial Group) has been a member for 18 years and has dedicated his time on the Associate Board, Membership Sales Committee and Customer Relations Committee. Poleyeff also served alongside John Atwood as the co-chair of the Disability Committee, developing and executing an effective plan to ensure that all guests have the best experience possible at Camping World Stadium events.

After becoming a member in 2017, Pryor wasted little time making himself a vital asset of the Media Relations Committee. Pryor has acted in various roles both in the press box and throughout the media operation and is always eager to assist, regardless of the assignment. Pryor also served on the Team Selection Committee.

A member since 2015, Schmidt is also being recognized for the second year in a row. Schmidt has played an integral role in the success of Florida Citrus Sports events by serving as a volunteer lead throughout the year and also stepped into a major role in the Media Relations Committee this season, in addition to his commitments to the Team Selection and Hospitality Committees.

Zeman (CenterState Bank) joined Florida Citrus Sports in 2013 and quickly became a friendly and familiar face to all members and staff. Zeman never fails to show his support at any and all Florida Citrus Sports events, including Wednesday WINE Yoga Nights. He has also been involved on the Elected Board and Team Selection Committee, and has makes significant contributions to  Florida Citrus Sports and LIFT Orlando through CenterState Bank.

Florida Citrus Sports looks forward to honoring these special members who have done so much for the organization this past season.
