Arkansas Chosen as Wisconsin’s Opponent in 2007 Capital One Bowl

The Arkansas Razorbacks have been selected to represent the Southeastern Conference in the 2007 Capital One Bowl in Orlando. The Razorbacks, who fell in the conference championship game last night, will face Wisconsin on Monday, Jan. 1, at 1:00 p.m.. The game will be televised nationally by ABC.

Arkansas is ranked 12th and 13th, respectively, in the latest Associated Press and USA Today Coaches polls. The Razorbacks were 10-3 in the regular season, winning 10-straight after losing their opener to Southern California. Arkansas won the SEC’s West Division with a 7-1 conference record with its lone regular-season loss in the conference being a 31-26 defeat at the hands of LSU in its 2006 finale.

This will be the first bowl game for the Razorbacks and head coach Houston Nutt since 2003, a 27-14 victory over Missouri.

“Arkansas earned the right to represent the SEC in the Capital One Bowl,” said FCSports Executive Director Steve Hogan. “With ten straight wins this season, the Razorbacks proved that they are an elite team in a competitive conference, and we’re both proud and excited to bring them to the Capital One Bowl.”

The Arkansas-Wisconsin matchup will match strength against strength. The Razorbacks will bring the nation’s fourth-ranked rushing offense to square off against the Badgers and the nation’s third-ranked overall defense. The Badgers will enter the game 11-1 (7-1 Big Ten) with their lone loss of the season being to Michigan.
