Ashley Memory Wins Citrus Sweets Dessert Challenge

The winner of the inaugural Citrus Sweets Dessert Challenge came all the way from Pittsboro, N.C., with her recipe: Crepes Suzette with Tangerines & Honey.

Memory traveled down from North Carolina for the judging, which was held immediately prior to step-off of the Spherion Orlando Citrus Parade.  The winning recipe was chosen from a group of five finalists by a judging panel that included Heather McPherson, Restaurant and Food Critic for Orlando Sentinel, Hollis Wilder, owner of the bakery Sweet!, Pam Brandon, local author of multiple cookbooks and Florida guidebooks and Joel Reynders, Executive Chef Longhorn Steakhouse.

Other finalists were Delilia Forkner from Orlando, FL (Grandma Delilia’s Orange Bread), Scottie Beasley from Winter Haven, FL (Lime Chiffon Pie), Suzanne Barnes from Winter Park, FL (Candied Grapefruit Rinds) and Bill Barnes from Orlando, FL (Red Hot Grapefruit Fluff).

As the winner, Memory was given a spot in the parade and her recipe was shared in the Orlando Sentinel.  She also received several citrus-related goodies, including a gift card to Citrus restaurant on Orange Avenue.
