Capital One Bowl To Continue On January 1 In 2014

The 2014 Capital One Bowl will be played at 1:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Jan. 1. The game will air nationally on ABC.

It will be the final bowl games played in the current Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium as a near complete reconstruction will follow this year’s Orlando Bowl Week. Preliminary construction and renovation (scheduled to begin in October) will be temporarily halted to accommodate the stadium’s late fall schedule, including the Florida Classic and both bowl games. Construction will resume after the games’ completion, with the completed stadium expected to be unveiled for the 2014-15 season.

The Capital One Bowl, the nation’s seventh-longest running postseason bowl, will be in its 68th year in 2014. The game will again feature the top non-BCS pick from the Southeastern and Big Ten conferences, while participating schools are awarded the highest payout ($9.2 million) among non-BCS games.

Tickets for the Capital One Bowl range from $50-117 with Uprights Club seats at $253. Tickets go on sale to the general public September 3, but tickets to both Orlando Bowl Week games are available by purchasing a 2013-14 Florida Citrus Sports Membership.
