CVB Float Wins 2009 Elmer Cook Award; Spherion Float Wins Online Fan Vote

Two citrus floats from the 2009 Spherion Orlando Citrus Parade were honored by judges and fans following the event.

The float from the Orlando/Orange County Convention and Visitors Bureau float, featuring a citrus rendition of a jet airliner, was given the 2009 Elmer Cook award as the best in show by a panel of media and local VIPs.

The judging panel included:

Christy Ashby, Editor for Orange Appeal Magazine
Kathryn Saccone, Fashion Show Director for IADT Orlando
Tom Terry, Chief Meteorologist for WFTV
Todd Lewis, On-air personality for The Golf Channel
Holly Hannula and Mitch English, Hosts for the Daily Buzz
Heather McPherson, Restaurant and Food Critic for the Orlando Sentinel
Mark Baratelli, blogger for TheDailyCity.com

An online fan vote held after the parade yielded different results.  A poll on FCSports.com saw Spherion’s roller coaster-themed float take top honors with over half of online voters (50.3%) choosing it as their favorite.

The Champs Sports float took second in the poll with 18.4% of the vote, and the CVB entry took third with 14.7% of the vote.
