FCSports Honored With Central Florida Urban League Cornerstone Award

Florida Citrus Sports received the Cornerstone Award for Youth Development from the Central Florida Urban League at the organization’s annual gala, held at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.

The CFUL signature event, featuring more than 400 community and business leaders, celebrated organizations and individuals that have made a significant contribution to the community in the four areas that are the cornerstones of the Urban League; Youth Development, Economic Empowerment, Workforce Development and Health Awareness.

FCSports was recognized for its efforts with Central Florida adolescents , with CEO Steve Hogan representing the organization and accepting the award from CFUL CEO Allie Braswell.

Hogan thanked the Urban League for its ongoing support of Florida Citrus Sports and its own contributions to Central Florida. He also spoke on Florida Citrus Sports initiatives moving forward and his personal appreciation for the friendship between he and Braswell.

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneer legend Derrick Brooks was the keynote speaker at the gala. After 14 seasons with the Bucs, Brooks turned his focus to working with adolescents and positively impacting the lives of youth in the Tampa Bay area through his foundation, Derrick Brooks Charities, Inc.

The evening included great food, healthy conversation and some of Central Florida’s greatest names.  Also at the event, Chief Judge Belvin Perry, Jr. Ninth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida, was named the recipient of the 2013 Bob Billingslea Legacy Award.
