Overton’s Signs On as Presenting Sponsor of Citrus Bowl
Overton’s, America’s Marine and Watersports Superstore, has reached an agreement with ESPN and Florida Citrus Sports to present the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Fla. The game moves back to its New Year’s Day spot this year and kicks off at 1:00 p.m. in Camping World Stadium and airs nationally on ABC.
“We couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity to partner with Overton’s,” said Steve Hogan, CEO of Florida Citrus Sports. “Our stadium and our organization have thrived since joining forces with Camping World in April 2016, and in Overton’s we’ve found a teammate that’s a perfect fit and one that is sure to make a splash in a community with a history so deeply rooted in the water.”
This year’s Citrus Bowl presented by Overton’s marks the 72nd edition of the game, the seventh-oldest of all current bowl games, and features the top non-CFP selections from the Big Ten and SEC. In years where a Big Ten team is assigned to play in a non-semifinal Orange Bowl, the Citrus Bowl will host the top non-CFP selection from the Atlantic Coast Conference in place of the Big Ten.
“We’re excited to extend our partnership with ESPN and Florida Citrus Sports to showcase our Overton’s brand,” said Marcus Lemonis, Chairman of Camping World Holdings, Inc., parent company of Overton’s. “The nationwide exposure originating from a region that enjoys both a climate and geography for year-round water sports make this a perfect fit. We look forward to hosting two great collegiate teams and celebrating their terrific seasons.”
Last year’s matchup featured the LSU Tigers, who defeated Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson and the Louisville Cardinals 29-9.
