Record TV Exposure Scheduled For Orlando Citrus Parade

At least 125 television markets have been cleared to carry the 25th Annual Orlando Citrus Parade presented by Delta Air Lines on a nationally syndicated basis. The total represents a 16% increase over the record 115 stations that carried last year’s parade.

The annual extravaganza, which draws close to 85,000 spectators to Downtown Orlando, will step off on Friday, Dec. 30 at 11 a.m. The theme for the 2005 parade is “Celebrating 25 Years”. Delta Air Lines is in its first year as the event’s presenting sponsor, while Super Holiday Tours and the Orlando/Orange County Convention and Visitors Bureau return as supporting sponsors of the event.

Markets in 44 states and the District of Columbia are set to air the Orlando Citrus Parade presented by Delta Air Lines. The list includes the 20 largest markets in the country, including New York (WABC), Chicago (WLS), and Los Angeles (KABC). Most stations will air the parade on Dec. 31 or Jan. 1. Locally, the event can be seen on WFTV Channel 9 at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 2.

Talent for the broadcast will include Sun Sports announcer Paul Kennedy, former CBS personality Jane Robelot, and Country Music Artist and Miss America 2004, Ericka Dunlap.

“We’re still adding stations, but right now well over 80% of the United States population will be able to watch the 25th Annual Orlando Citrus Parade presented by Delta Air Lines,” said Florida Citrus Sports Events Manager Julia Carlson.

Audiences of all ages are entertained for every minute of the parade, which features colorful and innovative floats made entirely of Florida citrus. Musical talent, impressive equestrian units, thundering marching bands, and unique specialty entries make the Orlando Citrus Parade a “can’t miss event.”

One of the unique aspects of the parade is the signature citrus floats. Hundreds of volunteers gather at the Convention Center North Concourse during parade week to attach over 100,000 oranges, grapefruits, and tangerines needed to create these masterpieces. After the parade, all fruit is donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank.

The Orlando Citrus Parade presented by Delta Air Lines is one of six signature events produced by Florida Citrus Sports (FCSports), a not-for-profit membership organization based in Orlando.
