Steve Hogan Receives 5-Year Extension and Title Change

Florida Citrus Sports has named Steve Hogan Chief Executive Officer and has extended his employment contract through 2013 it was announced by Cathy Weeden, president of FC Sports.  Hogans previous title was Executive Director of the organization.

“Steve Hogan has provided exceptional leadership and vision to the members and staff of Florida Citrus Sports,” said Weeden. “This extension is a testament to the many contributions he has made and will make as he continues to lead FCSports.  Further, in naming him CEO we believe this more accurately reflects his role for our business and for our 1,000-plus member community organization.”

As CEO, Hogan will continue to lead the day-to-day business of the company, overseeing all operations, as well as business, community and industry relationships.  Florida Citrus Sports manages flagship events including the Capital One Bowl and Champs Sports Bowl, as well as the Florida Classic, OUC Half Marathon and Spherion Orlando Citrus Parade.

Hogan joined FC Sports in 1995 as an events manager.  After helping secure NFL preseason games for Orlando, launching the Gridiron Classic College All-Star Game and helping grow many other events and relationships, he rose through the ranks to oversee business development.  He played an integral role in securing a state-of-the-art video scoreboard for the stadium and in developing a partnership with Champs Sports for the title position for one of Orlandos two successful bowl games.  He was named Executive Director in 2006, succeeding the late Tom Mickle.

Since taking the reins at the organization, Hogan has been instrumental in several key initiatives.  Chief among them was helping spearhead Orlandos efforts in a commitment to secure approval to renovate the Citrus Bowl Stadium and in the process, securing neutral-site games with prominent schools including Notre Dame and Florida State in the coming years.

Hogan is a graduate of the University of Central Florida.
