Game Dates & Kickoff Times Set for Florida Citrus Sports Bowl Games

Game dates and kickoff times for Orlando’s Cheez-It Bowl and Vrbo Citrus Bowl games were announced Thursday as part of ESPN’s 2022-23 college football schedule release.

The 2022 Cheez-It Bowl, featuring top teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference and Big 12 Conference, will be played in its traditional window, on Thursday, Dec. 29. Kickoff will be at 5:30 p.m. ET at Camping World Stadium, and the game will be broadcast on ESPN.

At last year’s game, Clemson cornerback Mario Goodrich returned a third-quarter interception for a touchdown and took home the Cheez-It Bowl MVP belt as the 19th-ranked Tigers beat Iowa State 20-13.

The 2023 Vrbo Citrus Bowl will be played on Monday, Jan. 2 at Camping World Stadium and kickoff is at 1 p.m. ET. The matchup will pit the Southeastern Conference against the Big Ten Conference and will be televised on ABC.

The 77th edition of the game will be the seventh to fall on Jan. 2 and the fifth since the Citrus Bowl moved to its traditional New Year’s Day window at the end of the 1986-87 season:

  • 2-Jan-12 Capital One Bowl #9 South Carolina 30 #20 Nebraska 13

In last season’s Vrbo Citrus Bowl, No. 22 Kentucky beat the 15th-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes 20-17. Wildcats wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson earned MVP honors with 10 catches for 170 yards, including a 52-yard catch with 2 minutes left to play to set up Kentucky’s game-winning touchdown.
