On Wednesday, July 28, Florida Citrus Sports hosted a free youth football clinic in partnership with NCAA Football’s Youth Initiative. Held in the shadow of the Citrus Bowl as installation of the new AstroTurf field continued, the clinic featured coaches and players from UCF, the University of West Georgia, and Jacksonville University, as well as local professional players from the Arena Football League’s Orlando Predators and the United Football League’s Florida Tuskers. City of Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and Orange County Mayor Richard Crotty made it official yesterday, signing the agreement to officially approve the venues as voted on in late July. On hand was Florida Citrus Sports Executive Director Steve Hogan and several of the organization’s members and dignitaries. The Board of Orange County Commissioners approved a $175 million Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium renovation – along with a new arena/events center and a new performing arts center – on Thursday night by a vote of 5-2. Florida State University has reached an agreement with Florida Citrus Sports to play a neutral site football game in Orlando, pending a renovation of the city�s Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium.
