Whitley Writes: Another Side Of Bowl Week At Give Kids The World Village

John Wallace accomplished almost every mission Louisville gave him during the regular season. He made 17 of 21 field goals and 49 of 50 extra points. Then the sophomore from Celia, Ky., got to Orlando for the Russell Athletic Bowl. A little girl he’d never met came up and asked him for a favor. “Could you paint my face?” Desiree Kelleher asked. Wallace is a kicker, not a painter. But he took her request like any other mission and started […]

Whitley Writes: Tampa’s National Championship Future Means Orlando Is Closer Than You Think

Since envy is one of the Seven Deadly Sins, I have nothing but nice things to say about Tampa getting the world’s biggest college football game. Whitley Writes: Plenty To Cheer About During Orlando Bowl Week

A strange thing happened after last year’s Rose Bowl game. Thousands of fans from the losing side didn’t want to leave. That’s not routine at 123 of the 124 NCAA Football Subdivision schools. It’s a tradition at Wisconsin, and Orlando is about to be reminded why. The Badgers are coming to town for the Capital One Bowl. Just as importantly, their band will be with them. Granted, it’s probably more important that the football team show up Jan. 1. But […]
