On Wednesday, July 28, Florida Citrus Sports hosted a free youth football clinic in partnership with NCAA Football’s Youth Initiative. Held in the shadow of the Citrus Bowl as installation of the new AstroTurf field continued, the clinic featured coaches and players from UCF, the University of West Georgia, and Jacksonville University, as well as local professional players from the Arena Football League’s Orlando Predators and the United Football League’s Florida Tuskers. The Miami Hurricanes and Wisconsin Badgers have been selected to play in this year’s Champs Sports Bowl. This year’s game is set to take place December 29th at 8:00 p.m. and will be televised by ESPN. Florida Citrus Sports CEO Steve Hogan announced talent for the 2009 Spherion Orlando Citrus Parade on Monday, Nov. 30, and the lineup will look very familiar to fans of ABC’s hit Dancing With The Stars. Grace Averitt, a fourth grader at East Lake Elementary, has won the 2009 Spherion Orlando Citrus Parade drawing contest, beating out over 300 other entrants. Grace will ride in the parade on Dec. 30 as an Honorary Grand Marshal. Her winning design will serve as the cover of the parade program.
